What is the MAT?
The Elementary Education MAT program is a five year program that prepares future teachers for the classroom. Students will complete their four years of undergraduate obtaining the B.S.E in childhood education completing their prerequisites for their masters degree. Each student has the opportunity to choose one of four concentration areas (English for Speakers of Other Languages, Gifted and Talented Education, Reading, or STEM Education). The MAT program is a year-long program where students will complete 33 hours of classwork as well as a year-long internship. During the MAT year students will create and implement an action research project. Students will also create and implement a curriculum unit.
